There are several differences between qualitative and quantitative data. Qualitative data is collected and interpreted for research studies, and this includes non-numerical data. Some qualitative type of research studies includes gathering data through document analysis, through focus groups, interviews, first-hand observation, cultural records or personal papers such as diaries or letters. Qualitative data is expressed in the form of language as opposed to the numerical values of quantitative data. Qualitative data is not analyzed through measurement or counts.
