Evaluate the effectiveness of your state’s systematic surveillance data based upon the state’s quality report card or Healthcare-associate infections (HAIs) reported to your state department of health. In your evaluation include the criteria and purpose of the report as described in your readings.  (a) How will this systematic surveillance assist your hospital infection control in prevention and control of infections? (b) What challenges do you see with the advent of electronic disease surveillance? (Refer to “Controversial Points” on page 7 of Blazes text for discussion points to answer part [b]).

Using your current setting and area of nursing practice – community/public health, home health care, travel nursing, long-term care, or other, (a) how will systematic surveillance assist your organization in prevention and control of infections?  (b) What challenges do you see with the advent of electronic disease surveillance? (Refer to “Controversial Points” on page 7 of Blazes text for discussion points to answer part [b]).
