Supply of Health Care

The Health Economics and Statistics team on which you serve as the Health Economics intern, is now ready to develop the relationship between the demand profile of the new enrollees and the services to be offered. You are asked to prepare an example of the relationship between enrollees and services for future use. Complete the following steps to prepare your hypothetical profile:

  1. Provide a general introduction to the topic explaining the supply of health care.
  2. Use the supply equation and a graph to illustrate and explain how each of the inputs to supply can affect seeking care.  You do not need data to create this effect.  You need to understand the concept and derive the curves based on a hypothetical situation, using examples from the syllabus and your resources.
  3. Show how individual supply curves can be used to derive a market supply curve.
  4. Describe price elasticity of supply and using a graph demonstrate which services are likely to be more price elastic than others.
  5. Calculate the change in quantity supplied for clinic visits, exercise # 6 in Hicks (p. 108).  Show your calculations and explain the impact of the change.
  6. How could information asymmetry affect the supply of services offered at the clinic and suggest a strategy for correcting information asymmetry?

Provide a conclusion summarizing your presentation.

Length: 6-8 pages, excluding the title and reference pages. By completing this assignment, you will be developing your competency in Analytical Thinking and Financial Skills.

References: In addition to the required course resources, include one resource about supply from Becker’s Hospital Review, at least one credible resource (i.e., textbook or professional organization), and one scholarly peer-reviewed reference.
