Cultural Interview Assignment POWERPOINT PRESENTATION.

Instructions :

  • FICTIONALLY Contact an individual from the cultural group selected (JAPANEASE FROM ASIATIC CULTURE IN GENERAL NO SPACIFIYING ANY GRUOUP IN PARTICULAR) and conduct a cultural interview.
    • Respect the interviewee’s privacy and cultural beliefs.
  • Use the interview questions developed in Module 2 based on Module 1’s mind map and the textbook’s FIG. 1.1 and FIG. 1.2 in Chapter 1 as the blueprint and guide for your interview.

Communication

  1. What languages are commonly spoken in your community, and how does language affect communication with healthcare providers?
  2. Are there any specific non-verbal gestures or signs in your culture that are important to understand in a healthcare setting?

Space

  1. What are your cultural norms regarding personal space? How might this affect interactions with healthcare providers?
  2. Are there specific preferences or taboos regarding physical proximity during healthcare appointments?

Social Organization

  1. How does family structure influence healthcare decisions in your culture?
  2. What roles do family members typically play in medical decision-making?

Time

  1. How does your culture view time and punctuality? How might this impact scheduling healthcare appointments?
  2. Are there any specific cultural considerations related to how appointments are made or kept?

Environmental Control

  1. What traditional health practices or remedies are commonly used in your culture? How do these beliefs affect the use of modern medicine?
  2. How does your community view the ability to control environmental factors that impact health?

Biological Variation

  1. Are there any genetic or biological traits in your community that healthcare providers should be aware of?
  2. Are there specific considerations regarding the effectiveness of medications for individuals from your cultural background?

 

  • Take notes during the interview to capture the key points discussed.

 

  • Be sure to answer the following questions in the presentation:
    • Did your preconceptions or stereotypes influence the interview process?
    • What cultural factors emerged during the interview that could impact healthcare decisions?
    • How might you adapt your nursing practice to provide culturally competent care for individuals from this cultural group based on the interview insights?

 

Submission Instructions:

  • The presentation is to be original work and logically organized, formatted, and cited in the current APA style, including citations and references.
  • The PowerPoint presentation should consist of 10-15 slides.
  • Incorporate a minimum of 4 current (published within the last five years) scholarly journal articles or primary legal sources (statutes, court opinions) within your work. Journal articles should be referenced according to the current APA style (the online library has an abbreviated version of the APA Manual).
