It is recommended that students do not read peer posts before submitting their initial discussions. Your Initial Main Discussion Thread should include the following:
- Reflect on your personal views related to nurses’ being appointed to boards, organizations or other policy forming entities.
- Why would a nurse want to seek an appointed position in government?
- How would you prepare for consideration to an appointed position?
- Use research and give examples of how nurses in various appointed positions could positively affect public policy.
Step 2: Peer Responses

Peer Responses at least 150 words each.
Read other student posts, and a minimum of at least TWO responses are required. Each Peer Response requires ONE reliable, evidence-based, and professional resource integrated with your personal experience. Peer Responses should include the following:
- Have you ever considered seeking a position in government?
- Is there a policy you have tried to change in your past or would like to see change?
- Use research and discuss how a nurse can initiate or support policy change?
- Use research integrated with your personal experience to support or debate other students’ posts. If differences of opinion occur, debate the issues professionally and provide examples to support opinions.
