my research inquiry focuses on the development and improvement of natural language processing (NLP) models for evidence-based practice (EBP). NLP involves using computational techniques to analyze and understand human language, which is essential for extracting meaningful information from large volumes of unstructured data, such as clinical notes, research articles, and social media posts.
My research inquiry relates to EBP as it seeks to provide clinicians and researchers with more efficient and accurate tools for processing and analyzing textual data, which can inform clinical decision-making and improve patient outcomes. By developing more advanced NLP models, my research can contribute to the development of EBP by enabling clinicians to extract and utilize relevant information from vast amounts of unstructured data. This can ultimately lead to better-informed clinical decisions and more effective treatments for patients.
The practice improvement outcomes that I expect my inquiry to accomplish include the development of more advanced NLP models that can accurately extract and interpret information from clinical notes and other unstructured data sources. These models can help clinicians and researchers to identify patterns and trends in patient data, which can inform treatment plans, improve patient outcomes, and enhance the overall quality of care.
To evaluate my capstone project, I intend to measure the accuracy and efficiency of the NLP models that I develop. This will involve comparing the results generated by the models with the actual outcomes observed in clinical practice or research studies. I will also seek feedback from clinicians and researchers on the usability and utility of the models and their potential impact on clinical decision-making and patient outcomes. Additionally, I will evaluate the scalability and generalizability of the models to ensure that they can be applied in a variety of clinical settings and populations.
