The purpose of conducting an organizational needs assessment is to identify the areas where an organization needs improvement, so that appropriate interventions can be developed and implemented to address the identified needs. An organizational needs assessment is typically conducted to identify areas such as gaps in organizational processes, staff training and development needs, organizational culture issues, and other areas that may be hindering the organization from achieving its goals.

During my practicum, I have identified the need for improving nurse retention in the organization. High nurse turnover can lead to significant problems such as decreased job satisfaction, loss of institutional knowledge, increased costs associated with recruitment and training, and ultimately decreased quality of care.

To determine the need for improving nurse retention, I utilized various tools, including surveys, interviews, focus groups, and document reviews. I collected data on the experiences and perspectives of nurses in the organization, as well as their reasons for leaving the organization. This data was analyzed to identify the root causes of the high turnover rate and to develop interventions to improve nurse retention.

The focus of my project will be to develop and implement interventions to improve nurse retention. The interventions will include strategies such as providing opportunities for professional development, increasing employee engagement, improving communication, enhancing work-life balance, and other initiatives designed to promote job satisfaction and retention. The project will also involve monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of these interventions over time.

In summary, conducting an organizational needs assessment is essential to identify areas that need improvement in an organization. In my practicum setting, I identified nurse retention as a critical area requiring improvement. I utilized various tools to determine the need and will focus my project on developing and implementing interventions to improve nurse retention.
