Reflection on Learning

Reflection on Learning:

This week, as I delved into the CITI modules, I found myself surprised by the depth of ethical considerations and the intricacies involved in conducting research. Exploring topics such as informed consent and the protection of human subjects highlighted the critical importance of ethical practices in healthcare research. These modules served as a reminder of the profound responsibility we hold as healthcare professionals to uphold ethical standards in our practice.

Moreover, I noticed several similarities between the CITI modules and the ANA Code of Ethics. Both emphasize the principles of beneficence, non-maleficence, autonomy, and justice, underscoring the fundamental values that guide ethical decision-making in nursing. This alignment reinforces the importance of adhering to ethical guidelines across various contexts within the nursing profession.

As I reflect on this week’s content, I recognize numerous applications to my nursing practice. Understanding the ethical considerations in research not only enhances my ability to critically appraise evidence but also informs my interactions with patients and colleagues. By integrating evidence-based practice and person-centered care, I can strive to improve health outcomes while upholding the principles of ethical conduct in diverse healthcare settings. Overall, this week’s learning has deepened my appreciation for the ethical foundations of nursing and reaffirmed my commitment to providing holistic and compassionate care to those I serve.
